It is a prime mover (it is a device to convert heat energy of fuel ( Chemical energy ) in to mechanical enenrgy.

There is Two Type of Engine:.

1. Internal Combustion
2. External Combustion

Internal Combustion:.

Internal Combustion Engines are used in:  trucks, cars, All types Bikes,  all type of planes and other vehicles, Trains and boats ships also.

External Combustion

In external combustion engine  heat source is separate.In external combustion engines, combustion heats a fluid which, in turn, does all the work. In these types of engines used as a heat source, and the engine can work equally well with other types of heat sources.

Major Engine Parts:.

1. Engine Head :. Valve, valve spring, Rocker arm, Engine head, Cover, Spark
2. Engine Block and Cylinder Block:. Cylinder Block, Cylinder liners, piston, piston ring                                                piston  pin, Connecting rod, camshaft,Push rod,Water pump, Engine oil pump, Engine oil collar.
3. Crank case:. Crank shaft, Bearing oil sump.
